For some time I have been careful about the products I buy. I have two main requirements – Paraben Free & Cruelty Free. I became frustrated with the high street, who for many years did not offer these alternatives and instead filled their shelves with products heavily laden in chemicals and tested on animals.
Superdrug have finally bucked this trend. I have been so happy to discover in recent months that not only are ALL their own products Cruelty Free, Vegan and BUAV approved, but they also stock affordable Vegan friendly brands such as GOSH Cosmetics and B (is for Beautiful). Gone are the days of sourcing over priced imported or specialist brands online.
In this post I want to talk about some of the products purchased in Superdrug that I love and use on a regular basis.
The back label of an own brand Superdrug product will show the Cruelty-Free International Logo and state that it is Suitable for Vegetarians & Vegans. Most will also state that they are Paraben Free. If not you can check this in the ingredients.
My Daily Picks
The Pro Care Whitening Toothpaste is just as good as Sensodyne, and so much cheaper. Sensodyne themselves don’t test on animals, but I have switched to this brand as they are £3-4 cheaper, depending on the current in store/online offer.
The Tea Tree Pink Grapefruit Facial Wash smells gorgeous and is perfect to keep skin breakouts at bay for any age.
I use the Simply Pure Hydrating Serum before my BB Cream as a toner and to combat the dryness of my skin. It’s the nicest serum I’ve used, it’s not oily or sticky and is absorbed quickly.
I love Superdrug’s own brand BB Cream. They do this in a 15 SPF and a 30 SPF. I use the 15 SPF in the winter and the 30 SPF in the summer. The light shade is a good match for my skin tone and it has good coverage. I don’t feel that I need to use a Foundation as well as this. I don’t use a concealer either, but I have been lucky thus far with a fairly even skin tone, so I’ve never felt that I needed one.
I really struggled to find a pressed powder that I liked. I’ve used a few over the years but never really been satisfied with the texture or consistency. I discovered GOSH BB All-In-One Powder a few months ago and haven’t looked back. It is mattifying which I am looking for (I don’t like shiny skin on myself) and it glides on smoothly giving effortless even coverage. You don’t need to use much of it either, so it lasts longer.
I’m all about no fuss when removing my make-up so B. Micellar Wipes are perfect as they remove make- up easily, including waterproof mascara, and they are perfect for sensitive skin.
I use the B. Nourished Night Cream just before I go to bed. It’s not heavy or oily, which I love.
My Make-Up Bag
I don’t tend to use any other make-up on a day to day basis. I reach for my make-up bag for parties, weddings, nights out and special occasions.
My Make-Up Bag now includes products from B. and GOSH. These are just a few things I have in my bag:
Superdrug are flying the flag for Vegan Beauty Products and Healthcare on the High Street. I hope this is the beginning of an awakening for other High Street shops and brands.
